20 Ways to Fit Online Personal Training into Your Busy Schedule

Are you having a hard time fitting your online personal trainer program into your busy schedule?

Well you’re not alone.  Time is the most used excuse for not working out but now you have 20 easy tips to get you started and keep you on track.

Make a Plan

Make a Plan

In order to maximize your time and get the most out of your workout, you need to have a plan.  Your online personal trainer should have created a plan that fits your body type, goals and time frame.

Limit Screen Time

Limit Screen Time

By limiting screen time (TV, Phone, Computer) you can actually free up hours each day that you could be spending working out.  If you don’t believe me, just cut back for one day and see how much time you are actually wasting.

Find 5-10 Minutes

Find 5-10 Minutes

All it takes is 5 five minutes here and 5 minutes there in order for you to get a workout in.  You don’t need to block off 30-60 minutes for your workouts.  Just make sure to tell your personal trainer that you have a busy schedule and you prefer to workout in 5-10 minute bouts.

Bring the Family

Bring the Family

If you’re having a difficulty finding time to exercise, you can always bring your family to the gym or park, so you’re spending time with them and working out at the same time.

Wake Up Earlier

Wake Up Earlier

Yes I said it, wake up earlier!  All you have to do is wake up 30 minutes before normal and get a quick workout in.  This will leave you time to spend with your family or friends after work.

Be Effective

Be Effective

This is key to getting the most out of your time and workout.  You should only perform the most effective exercises that you can.  Example; instead of performing tricep kickbacks, perform a close grip bench press or push-ups as both focus on triceps and you're working on chest and shoulders too.

Lunch Break Workout

If your job allows you enough time to work out during lunch, you should take advantage of it.  You don’t need to spend an hour eating or talking with co-workers, if you really want to spend your time talking, ask them to join you.  Most work places have a fitness center or you can always go outside.

Stay Up Late

If you have a hard time waking up in the morning, you can stay up late and get your workout in.  Most fitness centers are open 24 hours or you can find a workout video online and push play.

Make it a Date

Make it a Date

Who ever said a date had to be at the movies.  Instead you can go on a hike, snowboarding, biking or to the gym.

Multi Task While Working Out

This one is for those who can’t put their phone down.  If you have to, multi task while you work out.  You can perform a set and then answer an email.  Just as long as you are working out.  Some people may frown upon this at the gym if you're holding up a machine, so be courteous.

Workout at Home

Working out at home can be the perfect solution for some.  It can save you time and money.  Just figure out if you need any equipment from your online personal trainer and start working out.

Think Positive

Thinking positive is generally over looked but it can really change the whole outcome of your day.  If you know you can do it, you are more likely to accomplish it.  Always keep your head up even when things are not going your way.

Ditch Your Ride

Ditch Your Ride

Stop driving everywhere and start riding your bike, walking or running.  Now I know this may not be an option depending on where you live but you should still try every time you get the chance.

Perform Your Likes and Not Dislikes

Perform Your Likes and Not Dislikes

This is pretty simple, you are more likely to perform exercises that you like and your program should be based on those.  If your trainer gives you a program that is full of exercises you don’t like, you might want to find a new one.

Use Competitions as Motivation

Use Competitions as Motivation

Sign up for a competition to get you motivated.  This doesn’t have to be a marathon or a bodybuilding contest, just something that will make you work a little bit harder and push yourself to the next level.

Track Your Activity Levels

Keeping a journal or using one of those great fitness tracking devices will help you stay on your game.  Just don’t get obsessed over your results, as this can lead into another issue.

Choose Something Over Nothing

Choose Something Over Nothing

When it comes to fitness, something is always better than nothing, even if it’s only 10 minutes.  By choosing something over nothing, you're still moving toward your goal and becoming healthier.

Take One Day at a Time

Take One Day at a Time

Getting fit doesn’t happen over night and it does take hard work, so take it one day at a time.  If you miss one day it’s not the end of the world, just start over the next and keep on moving.

Create a Workout Playlist

Music will help you push through those hard workouts and make you feel good and when you feel good, you will start to enjoy working out.  Just create a playlist of your favorite songs and get started.

How many times have you heard, “I can’t go to the gym because I’m not in shape”.  This is a terrible excuse because you are there for one reason only, to get into shape.  Remember, you can always workout at home without feeling like you're being judged.
